IBM advocates for collaborative advancement in business artificial intelligence

At the technology summit, IBM's Cox presented a persuasive argument for open innovation in business generative AI. The executive, Vice President of machine learning frameworks and director at the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, stressed the significance of collaboration in innovation, notably in the current AI landscape.
Cox highlighted the nuanced nature of openness in AI, challenging the binary view of the concept. He pointed out the growing ecosystem of open models from various sources, including tech giants, universities, and governments.
Nonetheless, he articulated worries about the nature of openness in many AI language systems, pointing out that certain models offer barely more than a "bag of numbers" without openness in their development processes.
